the program consisted of several aspects, including community space, auditorium, stacks, reading rooms, computer stations, archival space, service and support.

 

[process]

the site of this project was in an urban area, but at the entrance to a wooded area. the concept assemblage i completed at the beginning of my research depicted the urban aspects of the city being shattered by the somewhat out of place woods.

 

i continued this idea by breaking my library into public and private halves, with two crisscrossing stairways being the only connecting pieces on the first floor.  the second floor was still separated and broken, but connected by a centered skylight and interweaving program areas.
